Alexander Benedict Rosinski, Jr., 81, of St. Joseph, Michigan, passed away of respiratory failure at Rochester General Hospital, Rochester, NY December 7, 2010. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00A.M., Monday, December 13, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph. Burial will follow immediately at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph with Military Rites conducted. Visitation is from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M., Sunday, at Starks and Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. The recitation of the Rosary will follow at 4 pm. Mr. Rosinski was born in Hamtramck, MI and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1947. He served in the Army as a Staff Sergeant and 73d Tank Battalion Tank Commander during the Korean War from 1951-53. He met his wife Noreen in Detroit, and they were married February 16, 1957. He graduated from the University of Detroit in 1960 with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has resided in St. Joseph since 1961, when he relocated here with his young family to begin his career of 27 years at Whirlpool Corporation. He subsequently earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Michigan State University in 1966. He was dedicated to his wife and family and spent his life in faithful service to his church, his community, and his country. He was an active parishioner of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and volunteered in many capacities over the years. He was on the Board of Directors for the Berrien County Sportsman's Club where four decades of young sportsmen and women remember him as a mentor and coach of the Junior Rifle Team and Instructor of Hunters' Safety Courses for the State of Michigan. He has been an active lifetime member of the National Rifle Association on a local, state and national level. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1137 in Benton Harbor, MI leading the Military Rites Team in honoring our local Veterans during funeral services and participating in countless parades and community events, He was a frequent patriotic speaker in the public schools and Lake Michigan College talking about his Korean War experiences and American Military History. He served as Treasurer to an association of his fellow 73d Tank Battalion Veterans and contributed as an author to the Lest We Forget “Wartime Memoirs, Volume 2”. He served his local community as a Computer Tutor at The Loft in Benton Harbor, was on the St. Joseph Township Planning Board, and was a Republican Party Precinct Delegate during local and national elections. Mr. Rosinski is survived by his children Mary Grace (Roy) Whitley of Annandale, VA, Alexander III (Nancy) Rosinski of Westford, MA, Jean Marie (Eric) Engelke of Rochester, NY and Michael John (Mary) Rosinski of Spartanburg, SC, and his Grandchildren Sean Michael and Kathleen Marie Whitley, Brian Alexander, Caroline Lynn, and Margaret Louise Rosinski. He was preceded in death by his wife Noreen Florence, parents Alexander B. Rosinski, Sr. and Mary Agnes Kusiak of Detroit, and brother John Daniel Rosinski.
