St. Joseph, MI – Joan Winifred Petrie, 79, of St. Joseph, MI. died Sunday, November 21, 2010, at Caretel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph. The memorial service is scheduled for Monday, November 29th, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph, MI, A luncheon will follow at the Rose Center. The arrangements are entrusted with Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. The family has requested that all memorial contributions be made to Hospice at Home. Joan was born on February 16, 1931 in Detroit, MI to Oliver “Tex” and Myrtle (Cloutier) Klapperich. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School and attended the former Benton Junior College, now known as Lake Michigan College. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Over the years, she was employed at Cooper Wells, Michigan Bell Telephone Co., Spartan School Equipment and Rimes & Hildebrand. She married Roger Petrie on August 1, 1953 in St. Joseph. She is survived by her children, Susan (Mitchell) Baker of Berrien Springs and David Petrie of Livonia, MI. She is also survived by her grandsons, Nathan and Andrew Baker, brother, Ted Klapperich of New Hudson, MI, and sisters, Phyllis Bourgeau of Waterford, MI, Janet (Tim) Conroy of Spring Lake, MI and Sybil (Larry) D'Amico of St. Simons, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, parents, Oliver and Myrtle, brothers, Raymond and Thomas, and her sister, Mary Ann Chaput.
