C.A.'s Obituary

C.A. “Toby” Tobias, 82, of Benton Harbor, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 7th, at the Christian Reformed Church of St. Joseph, with Pastor John DeVries officiating, 3275 Washington Ave., St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Monday, September 6th, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Christian Reformed Church of St. Joseph. Those wishing to sign the Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Toby was born in Hinchman, Michigan on March 8th, 1928 to parents Cephas and Imogene (Fleischer) Tobias. He was a well known businessman owning and operating Tobias Oil Company and other local gas stations. He also served on the St. Joseph-Benton Harbor Rotary Club, and was a member of Christian Reformed Church of St. Joseph. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Anderson) Tobias; three daughters-Cheri Lynn (Dino)Boufides of Troy, Michigan , Cynthia Ellen Tobias of St. Joseph, Michigan, and Cathy Ann Flem of Royal Oak, Michigan; two sisters, Edith Hogue and LaVerne Ammerman, 5 grandchildren, and one great-grandson, along with his beloved dog, Izzy. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Doris (Mischke) Tobias; and four sisters, Marion Kieser, Pearl Eustis, Vera Loehr, and June Nitschke.
