Richard “Dick†S. Laney, 81, of Stevensville, Michigan, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Michigan.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home 2650 Niles Rd. in St. Joseph with Father William Jacobs, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Bridgman with graveside military rites conducted by North Berrien Military Rites Team. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Richard “Dick†Laney was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on April 3, 1929 to Nellie and Claude Laney. He was the Founder and Chairman of B & L Information Systems, in Bridgman, Michigan.
He was a member of Rotary International, also named Rotarian of the Year on two separate occasions. Dick was associated with Global Volunteers, and taught conversational English to young adults in Italy and Hungary.
Dick is survived by his wife, Rene Laney of Stevensville, his children Lynn and Phil of Stevensville, Rick of Shelbyville, Indiana, and Laura, of Scottsdale, Arizona. Also Daughter-in-laws Brenda and Becky, and grandchildren, Ross, Hayden, Keaton, Dawson, Cameron, Tela & Trent. Sister Barbara Sullivan, of Evansville, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Laney, and daughter-in-law Donna.
