Gladys E. Wales, 89, of Dowagiac died Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 13, 2015 at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, with Pastor Melody Wallace officiating. Visitation 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Burial will follow at Mission Hills Cemetery in Niles. Gladys was born July 8, 1925 in Bridgman, Michigan to William C. and Zelma (Mead) Johns. She married her beloved husband Charles H. Wales on July 26, 1941 in Wauseon, Ohio. Gladys attended First Christian Church with her family. She loved cooking and baking and prided herself on her homemade pies. Gladys enjoyed being outdoors, especially taking walks or bicycle rides every day. She adored her family and cherished the time she spent with them.
Gladys is survived by her daughter, Elaine (Donald) Bayles of Niles, son, Gary Wales of Dowagiac; grandchildren, Jason (Claudine) Bayles, Justin (Laurie) Bayles and Jeremy Bayles, all of Niles; great-grandchildren, Charles, Westin, Jaden, Tina, Claudine and Melissa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Robert Johns, Mary Shafer, Ruby Critzer and Wanda Baker.
