Glen's Obituary
Glen A. Herter, 53, of Osceola, IN, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015 in Mishawaka, IN.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Clark Chapel and Cremation Services, 405 Center Street, Dowagiac, MI, with Pastor Scott Stambaugh of Sister Lakes Community Church. Burial will follow at Mission Hills in Niles, MI. Friends may visit with the family Thursday, March 26 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Glen was born February 3, 1962 in Niles, MI to Leslie and Joellen (Pierce) Herter. He graduated from Dowagiac Union High School in 1980 and then served his country through the armed services in the Army division. Glen married the love of his life, Lisa (Jackson) on June 25, 2010 at Ox Bow Park in Goshen, IN. He worked in maintenance at Patrick Industries in Elkhart for several years. Glen also helped his parents at L & J Packaging in Dowagiac. He was a supporter of Notre Dame, the Green Bay Packers and an avid Jeff Gordon NASCAR fan. Glen was a handy man, who especially enjoyed carpentry. He was proud of his garden and enjoyed showing it off. Glen adored his daughters and grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with his family, friends and cat “Winston”. He especially enjoyed being outdoors, cooking on the grill, playing horseshoes and having a cold beverage or two.
Glen is survived by his wife Lisa; children, Heather (Jeremy) Schalk of Cincinnati, Ashley Jo (Daniel) Lehman of Elkhart, Kassi Herter of Indianapolis, Ashley Rene (Justin) Vandenburg of Niles, and Jeremy Cadwell of Sister Lakes; his parents, Leslie and Joellen Herter of Dowagiac; brother, Keith (Kerry) Herter of Dowagiac; sisters, Kathy (Richard) Niebling of Chicago, and Beth (Daniel) Daly of Dowagiac; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Joel Pierce.
