Edward's Obituary

Edward Joseph McCrone II , 86 of St. Joseph, MI, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd. – St. Joseph, MI. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Ed was born to Edward and Katherine (Yore) McCrone on April 9, 1923 in Benton Harbor, MI. Ed is survived by his wife, Leah (Lynch) McCrone, ten children, Kevin (Joan) McCrone, Marcia McCrone, MaryBeth (Greg) Bennett, Mark (Toni) McCrone, Sarah (Robert) Van Arkel, Sheila Beckmann, Maureen (Susan Sparta) McCrone, Michael (Rachelle) McCrone, Erin (Thomas) Briggs, Joe (Rochelle) McCrone, his stepsister, Sally Haber, 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his son, Brian McCrone, and his parents, Edward and Katherine McCrone. Ed graduated from St. Johns High School in 1941 where he excelled in many sports. He later entered the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served his country in World War II. After working many years in the heating and cooling business, Ed continued working until earlier this year with his son, Mark, at McCrone Custom Furniture. Ed’s passion was his family. He was a great storyteller and always appreciated a good joke. He was an avid Notre Dame fan. Ed had a way of making everyone feel special and was loved by many.
