Frederick Carl Hopman, Jr., 78, of Dowagiac, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015 at The Timbers in Dowagiac. In keeping with Frederick’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled.  Those wishing to leave a memory or condolence of Frederick online may do so at www.clarkch.com. Frederick was born on May 2, 1936 in Hammond, Indiana, to Frederick and Marian (Ahlgren) Hopman Sr. He received his Bachelors of Arts degree from the University Of Wyoming.  Frederick taught 6th grade for 14 years while in Wyoming.  He spent 7 years in the Peace Corps serving in 3 different countries.  Frederick moved to Dowagiac and lived on Magician Lake for many years.  He was a teacher trainer for 20 years in the Dowagiac school district. Frederick was also a substitute teacher for the Lewis Cass I.S.D along with the Dowagiac schools. Frederick is survived by his brother Thomas J. Hopman of Beguia Island in Saint Vincent and the Grenadine; his sister Alice Jeanne Hardy of Highlands Ranch, CO.; and an uncle James Ahlgren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mary Ann Powers.
