Florence's Obituary

FLORENCE SIEBER-ST. JOSEPH – Florence Sieber, 94, of the Whitcomb Towers in St. Joseph, passed away on May 17, 2009 at Lakeland Medical Center. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m and also on Wednesday, an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in honor of David Sieber, or to a charity of donor’s choice. Florence was born on November 13, 1914, in Chicago, Illinois to Frank and Josephine (Miska) Hradecky. The family moved to Hartford, Michigan in 1926 where she graduated from high school in 1933. The family owned the town bookstore. In 1933, she was chosen to be Miss Hartford in the Blossomtime Festival. On October 12, 1940, Florence married Edward Sieber and started a married life in Fairplain almost 69 years ago. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing in several bridge groups. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, James (Sandra) Sieber of Lake Forest, IL and John (Janet) Sieber of Coloma, MI. In addition, there are six grandchildren, Bryan Sieber of Royal Oak, MI, Dr. David Sieber and Jonathon Sieber of Chicago, Illinois, Mark (Christi) Sieber of Granger, IN, Jeffrey Sieber of Lafayette, IN and Tara Sieber of Breckenridge, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Helen Jutzi, Bess Andreen and Loretta Rauner, and an infant daughter, Mary Ellen. Florence was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family.
