George C. Sparke

George Sparke Jr., 69, of St. Joseph, MI, formerly of Ohio passed away Friday, May 8, 2009 at his home. Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with the Rosary recited at 5:30 P.M. with Fr. William J. Jacobs Monday, May 11, 2009 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to the Sparke Family. Milton, Ohio from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 13, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 P.M. Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Transfiguration Church, 972 S. Miami St., West Milton, Ohio, with visitation from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Troy, OH. George was born April 30, 1940 in Cincinnati, Ohio to George & Camille (Ostendorf) Sparke Sr. He graduated from Elder High School in Cincinnati. George served his country in the Navy for four years. He received his Associates degree in Engineering from Edison College in Piqua OH. On January 24, 1998 he married Teoginesa & Gigi Sparke in OH. George worked for Proctor & Gamble for 5 years in OH, Hobart Corporation for 15 years in OH and Whirlpool in Dayton, OH and Benton Harbor division for 18 years. George was a member of the St. John’s/ St. Bernard’s Knights of Columbus and was an active member of the right to life movement. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, motorcycling and primitive camping. George also was studying to be a Nurse at Lake Michigan College. George was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol Sparke and brother James Sparke. He is survived by his wife Gigi Sparke of St. Joseph, MI; one brother Michael (Caroline) Sparke of OH; niece Lisa; twelve children, Christopher (Jackie) Sparke of TX, Susan (Dennis) Webb of OH, Michele Weaver of OH, George “Scott” (Sandra) Sparke of OH, Ann (Phil) Smith of TX, Paul (Henriekha) Sparke of TX, Matthew Sparke of OH, Jason (Rachel) Sparke of IN, Geralynn (Matt) Vaughn of OH, Sarah (Jeremy) Bubeck of OH, Elizabeth (Josh) Porter of OH, Sister Mary Kathleen Sparke of NM; sixteen grandchildren Stephan, Jennifer, Jessica, Heather, David, Julie, Shelby, Andrew, Thomas, Gavin, Garrett, Lillian, Jeremiah, Michelle, Christopher and Matthew; eight great grandchildren.
