Jerry V. Clark, 72, of Decatur, MI, passed away at home on April 25, 2009, from pancreatic cancer. Arrangements have been entrusted with Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral of St. Joseph, MI. Jerry was born in Bay City, MI on November 22, 1936 to Vernon and Vera (Ferguson) Clark. He was raised in Laingsburg, MI, where he graduated from high school in 1954. Jerry still holds the Laingsburg High School record for the most points scored in a basketball game, and also he pitched two consecutive no-hitters for the school’s baseball team. He retired as Detective Sergeant in 1988 from the Michigan State Police after serving 26 years. He served at several posts throughout Michigan, with the last in Benton Harbor. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and traveled from Mexico to Alaska in search of that next adventure. Jerry is survived by his wife, Sandra of Decatur, MI; daughters, Karen Hayter of Kalamazoo and Lorrie (Jack) Biegalski of Winfield, IL; a son, Patrick (Patti) Clark of St. Joseph, MI; 10 grandchildren; 2 great Grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and two Labrador fur friends, Jasmine and Jeff. Visitation is at the Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home in St. Joseph, MI, on Tuesday, April 28, from 4:00-7:00pm. The Celebration of Life Service will be held at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home in Laingsburg, MI, on Wednesday, April 29, at 11:00am. Jerry will be interred at the Laingsburg Cemetery following these services. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Tom Ferrigan, John Ferrigan, James Wrobel, and his grandsons, Michael Biegalski, Matthew Biegalski and Michael Hayter. Honorary pallbearer will be Aaron Clark. Memorials may be made to the National Rifle Association or to the Salvation Army.
