Herbert's Obituary

Herbert Wilson, 59, Dowagiac, MI, died on Sunday, December 21, 2014, at his home in Dowagiac. Herbert was born on January 12th, 1955 to Herbert and Velma (French) Wilson in Memphis, Tennessee. Herbert is survived by his three children; Jacob Wilson of Nashville, Tennessee, Samantha (Matthew) Weaver, and Stephanie (Dustin) Brady of Celina, Ohio, also by two step-daughters, Heather (Josh) Stone of Coloma and April (Ryan) Flagel of Watervliet. He is also survived by one brother, Dan (Bonnie) Wilson of Dowagiac. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Luann Wilson and one grandchild. Herbert was a CNC programmer for TigMaster in Baroda and worked in sales for them as well for about 15 years. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed hunting bear with his brother, Dan, in Canada. One particular hunting story that his brother remembered was when they went deer hunting and the only success was a squirrel kill by Herbert’s son, Jacob. Herbert loved his family and his children.  His daughter, Stephanie remembers many times when her dad took her shopping for dresses. “He was a wonderful dad and enjoyed taking me shopping”, said Stephanie. He was a past member of the Dowagiac VFW Post and Eagle’s Lodge. Family and friends will gather for a time of remembrance at the Dowagiac VFW Hall on Division Street on Saturday, January 3rd from 2 to 6 p.m. Military honors will be performed at 2:30 p.m.  Memorial Contributions can be made in his name to the family, c/o Dan Wilson.
