Agnes's Obituary

God decided he needed another angel so he took Kitty, 83, home to rest on May 1, 2009 at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Per Kitty’s wishes, cremation will take place and there will be a private family burial at Riverview Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, May 8 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Hospice at Home, St. Joseph. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Kitty was born to Albert & Grace Kitson on August 31, 1925 in Methuen, Massachusetts. On September 28, 1946 she married the love of her life and soul mate, Jim Loughmiller. Together, they embarked on the life and adventures of being a career Navy family, eventually settling down in St. Joseph in June, 1962. Kitty was a lifelong waitress and retired in 1989 from Tosi’s Restaurant after working there as one of the original “Tosi gals” for 27 years. The greatest joy she received in life was being around her family; she was so devoted and proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved nothing better than to be at any family event, especially on holidays, surrounded by her family. The next best thing that Kitty loved to do was to play bingo and always got so excited to be able to yell “BINGO”! She is survived by her children, James Keith (Peggy) Loughmiller II of Benton Harbor and Patricia (RJ) Ott of Sawyer; son-in-law, Russell Terwilliger of Ovid, MI; grandchildren, Kimberly (Jason) Patterson, James Keith (Amber Woods) Loughmiller III, Samantha Terwilliger, and Chelsea Ott; great-grandchildren, Miranda Patterson, Gabriella Patterson, and Alexander Loughmiller; sister, Grace Aldrich of New Hampshire, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Jim Loughmiller, on December 31, 1993 and her daughter, Darlene Terwilliger on September 7, 2006. Rest in peace Mom – We love you.
