Loretta Joyce Turner

Loretta J. “Susie” Turner, 82, of Dowagiac, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014 at the Timbers of Cass County in Dowagiac.  No services are planned at this time. Loretta “Susie” was born March 15, 1932 in Coloma, Michigan to Frederick and Millie (Friesen) Freier. After graduation from Benton Harbor High School she immediately began working as a secretary.   On May 27, 1953 she married Rex Turner. Together they owned and operated Rex’s Drive- In located in Dowagiac.  Loretta “Susie” and Rex owned seven acres of land outside of Dowagiac where they raised several different breeds of animals including goats and pigeons.  She was especially fond of her cats.  She enjoyed collecting antiques of all kinds.  Loretta “Susie” is survived by her brother Arthur (Norma) Freier of Barrinton, IL., along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her siblings; Irving Freier, Elvera Freier, Lillian Grahn, Elmer Freier, Eugene Freier, Harold Freier and Ruth Chesher.  Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the donors choice.
