Sally's Obituary
Sally R. (Hand) Lange, 69, of Sodus, passed away, after battling a long term illness on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at her home surrounded by her family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Riverview Park Christian Church, 2929 Niles Rd; St. Joseph, MI with Rev. David Stout officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, October 21 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Burial will be at Mt. Sally Rae (Hand) Lange was born on January 22, 1939 in Pokagon, MI to Clyde and Eleanor (Schram) Hand. She graduated from Niles High School and was head of the Secretarial pool at Kawneer in Niles, MI. She married the love of her life, Thomas Lange on March 19, 1966 in Benton Harbor, MI. Together they had five children, Shawn, Eric, Brian, Thomas Lange II and Suzan. Sally was very active at Riverview Park Christian Church in which she was a board member and sang in the choir. She also sang in the barbershop chorus with the Shoreline Sounds. She was the treasurer and president of the board of education for River School in Sodus and a board member of the Sodus Township Library. She was a master gardener who really enjoyed farming with her husband, Thomas. She also loved antiquing for “depression glass” and traveling around the country.
Sally is survived by her loving husband, Thomas; her children, Shawn Lange of Sault Saint Marie, Eric (Kathy) Lange of Benton Harbor, MI, Brian Lange of Hartford, MI, Thomas Lange II of Sodus, Suzan Glandon of Hayesville, IA; three granddaughters and seven grandsons; one great granddaughter; brother, David (Mary) Hand of Thorpe, WI; Sister-In-Law, Norma Hand of Lawton, MI and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Eleanor; a sister, Joy and brothers, Sonny and Thomas.
