Lottie R. Daken, 104, of Lorain, Ohio, formerly of Benton Harbor passed away November 18, 2008.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday November 21, 2008 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rabbi Michael Rascoe officiating. Burial will follow at B’nai Sholom Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Temple B’nai Shalom. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Lottie was born on November 16, 1904 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Morris & Minna (Shapiro) Daken. Lottie was an Office Manager and Bookkeeper for many years. She had her own dress shop in Chicago and worked at Carver Chrysler and Robinson Marine. She was the Treasurer of the YMCA in St. Joseph and helped with the family business, Daken Produce. Lottie was a member of Temple B’nai, Shalom Sisterhood, and The Republican Party. She also was the past president of Hadassah.
Lottie is survived by her nephew Sheldon (Sheila) Bloomfield of Lorain, OH; three nieces Frances Marx of Walnut Creek, CA, Marcia Bender of Walnut Creek, CA, and Marilyn (James) Buran of Rochester, NY; 9 grand nieces and nephews and 13 great grand nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Lottie was preceded in death by two sister Elsie Bloomfield and Hannah Cohn; two brothers Max Daken and Samuel Daken; one nephew Mark Cohn.
