Robert Raymond Kippen

Robert R. Kippen, 68, of Dowagiac, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, MI., after a brief illness. Robert will be laid to rest in the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, TX., at a later date. Robert was born March 14, 1946 in Chicago, IL., to Robert H. and Catherine (Werle) Kippen. Robert’s father died when Robert was an infant. His mother married Perry E. Hammond who then became a father to him. Robert enlisted in the United States Army in December in 1965.  He served his country for 2 years until he was honorably discharged in 1967.  Robert was known as a kind soul. He never raised his voice or spoke a harsh word.  Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, playing card games, going fishing and watching the Arkansas Razorbacks play football and basketball. Robert leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving family who include a daughter, Jennifer Kippen-Ramsey and a son Robert Kippen of Bentonville, AR., 5 grandchildren, his sisters; Betsy Dutton of Dowagiac, MI.,  Linda Derks of Houston, TX.,  Carolyn Hammond of Houston, Tx., and Catherine Reeves of Dowagiac, MI., his brothers; Glenn Hammond, Alvin Hammond, and Shawn Hammond all of Dowagiac, MI.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Robert Delrossa and Charles Hammond.
