Beverly's Obituary

Beverly Bielefeld Hahn, 53, of Stevensville, died suddenly Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at home. She was born December 21, 1954 in Rockford, IL, and grew up in St. Joseph. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1972. On June 21, 1981 she married James Hahn of Benton Harbor. Bev received her BA from SienaHeights University and worked for many years at Lake Michigan College, tutoring special populations, teaching computer classes as adjunct faculty and most recently working in the Registrar’s office. She was also well known in the area for many years as a singer and performer. Bev touched many people in this world with her music and her warm, generous spirit. She was a prolific songwriter, teacher, artist and musician and was a towering creative force. She loved her family and her friends and music and will be deeply missed by the many people that loved her. Her spirit will live on in her music and the people whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her parents Rolf and Christiane Bielefeld (Renker). She is survived by her husband Jim and daughter Kelsey; her sisters Karin Bielefeld of Watervliet and Edith Carver of Divide, CO; her niece Christin McLeod and nephew Brent McLeod of Los Angeles, CA; her mother- and father-in-law Herb and Elizabeth Hahn of Benton Harbor, sister- and brother-in-law Lynette and Paul Trautwein, and nieces Rachel, Cristy, Sarah, and Amy of Wheaton, IL. Friends may call from 5;00 – 8:00 PM Friday October 3, 2008 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 Am Saturday October 4, 2008, officiated by Rev. Melanie Lawrence, at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ, 1200 W. Glenlord Rd. St. Joseph. There will be a reception for family, friends and colleagues at LMC’s Mendel Center, 2755 E. Napier Ave. Benton Harbor, MI 49022 immediately following the funeral.
