Joyce Laverne Allen

Joyce L. Allen, 78, of Dowagiac, passed away Monday, October 6, 2014 at her residence with her family by her side. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Clark Chapel and Cremation Services, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, MI.  A gathering of family and friends will take place Friday between 10:00a.m. and 11:00a.m. at the Chapel.  Burial will be at Mission Hills Memory Gardens, Niles, MI. following the service. She was born December 28, 1935, in Bradford Arkansas, to her parents William Woodrow and Bertha (Wilson) Fraser.  She married the love of her life, Peter George Allen on June 10, 1961.  He passed away in 1983.  She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Ladies Auxiliary at Indian Lake Fire Department. Joyce is survived by her two daughters; Janet (Danny) Hagen of Dowagiac and Lori (Darren) Mackey of Niles; six grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua, Jacob, Alexis, Lauren and Rachel; one great grandchild, Bennett.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister Betty Stroud. Joyce always made time for her loving grandkids and for breakfast at Track Side with her friends.  She loved doing genealogy and traced her family back into the 1200’s.  She was an avid Red Wings fan and loved to shop and travel.  Joyce was very much attached with her beloved cat, Max Allen.
