Florence R. Edinborough

Florence R. Edinborough March 23, 1922 – June 26, 2008 Lifetime resident of Benton Harbor, Florence R. Edinborough passed away June 26, 2008 at Caretel Inns after a brief illness. Flo was born March 23, 1922 in Benton Harbor as the daughter of Frank and Mayme (Sorce) Serpe. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin; her mother and father. Florence attended St. John’s school and was a member of the St. John’s parish her entire life. Out of high school she worked at Rosback Corporation and always tells the story that she bought a fur coat with her first paycheck! Flo, lovingly called, “Nannee,” by her family and friends met Martin doing one of her favorite activities, dancing, at The Crystal Palace. They dated and Flo always said “she ran from him until she caught him!” Flo and Mart shared 56 wonderful years of marriage before he passed away in 2005. Everyone who knew Flo, knew she had many favorite social pastimes. Bridge three days a week, Golfing as often as possible with the 18 holers, 9 holers and Friday night golf leagues at Berrien Hills, Line Dancing, Bowling and her much loved morning coffee with the “Church Ladies.” Her absolute favorite activity though was spending time with her grandchildren. Nannee attended every possible sporting event and programs that her grand kids participated in. Florence’s surviving family includes her daughter Pam (Jim) Cottier of Coloma, Michigan, son Ron (LoriAnn) Edinborough of Granger, Indiana; grandchildren Stephanie, Andrew & Michael Cottier and Lauren and Eryn Edinborough. Friends may spend time with the family on Sunday, June 29, 2008 from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 10:00 AM at St. John Catholic Church, 600 Columbus, Benton Harbor, with Father Bill Jacobs, Jr. officiating.
