Dorothy L. Kettelhut

Dorothy L. Kettelhut, 84, of Benton Harbor, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Kettelhut was born June 23, 1923 in Morocco, Indiana to Walter & Alma (Carlson) Zoborosky. She married Harold “Peanuts” Kettelhut in June of 1942 in St. Joseph. Dorothy attended Lake Michigan College to further her education. Dorothy was employed as an inspector at Heath-Zenith in St. Joseph. She was a member of Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ in St. Joseph where she formerly taught Sunday School. Dorothy volunteered at Lakeland Hospital and the St. Joseph-Lincoln Senior Center. She enjoyed making crafts and showed her work at local craft fairs. Dorothy canned fruits & vegetables and won many ribbons & awards at various events in the area. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading. Dorothy is survived by her children-Carolyn (Larry) Rowker of Blakely, PA, Nancy Kettelhut-Autra of St. Joseph, Richard “Rick” (Linda) Kettelhut of Woodbridge, VA, David (Marisa) Kettelhut of Peachtree City, GA; nine grandchildren-Catherine Autra-Kovalska, Jennifer Reid-Hong, Julie Reid, Christopher Reid, Philip Autra, Kristen Kettelhut, Kimberly Kettelhut, Jason Wolf Kettelhut, Dustin Johnston; five great-granchildren-Travis Kovalska, Benjamin Hong, Timmy Kovalska, Devon Hong, Samantha Kovalska; & her sister Phyllis (BJ) Cannon of Houston, TX. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold “Peanuts” Kettelhut on December 31, 1981, and by her siblings-Bethel Fish, Maxine Durham, Wilma Kendall, Virginia Kniss, Bernard Zoborosky, Joyce Doty, Anna Hardy, & Leona Zoborosky.
