Sandra Lynn (Nitz) Salzberg age 51, of Chicago, Illinois formerly of Baroda, Michigan, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 17, 2007, in Chicago, Illinois, after a gallant fight with cancer.
Sandra was born in St. Joseph, Michigan, on July 10, 1955, the daughter of Eldon and Lois (Tollas) Nitz. She was a life member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Baroda.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 24, 2007, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 9193 Cleveland Ave., Baroda, Michigan, with Pastor Kenneth Babcock officiating. Interment will take place at Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda, Michigan immediately following the service. Friends and family in the Chicago area may call on the family from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., on Thursday, February 22, at Theis-Gorski Funeral Home, 3517 N. Pulaski, Chicago, Illinois 60641. A Visitation will also take place from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, February 23, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. She married the love of her life, Jerry Salzberg on October 30, 1983 in Glenview, Illinois. Her husband Jerry survives her. Sandra graduated from Wartburg College in Davenport, Iowa in 1977, with a Bachelors’ degree in Vocal Performance. She was employed by Northwest Airlines for over 20 years.
Sandra’s family, friends, and travel were her life. She toured the world with her loving husband Jerry, and enjoyed the great life she and Jerry had in Chicago. She will be missed and loved forever by her husband Jerry, her parents, Eldon and Lois (Tollas) Nitz, brothers; Michael (Sandra) Nitz, Bruce (Judith) Nitz, Robert (Carol) Nitz, Brian (Lori) Nitz, Dale (Billie) Nitz and a number of nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Her courageous battle with cancer and her love of life will always be an inspiration to all that knew her.
