Tiffany Lynn Weir

On March 24, 1993 God blessed our family with a little girl, Tiffany Lynn Weir. She brought so much joy and happiness to all of our lives. She had made her goal of growing taller than her Grandma, mom and aunt. For reasons unknown, God took Tiffany home to be with Him on January 9, 2007. This leaves us with empty and broken hearts. Left to cherish her precious memory are her mother and step-father, Patricia “Patty” (Akins) and Gene Hoeckelberg, of St. Joseph, and her father, Richard E. Weir of Hartford, Mi. Brother, Alex Weir at home, and her step-sister, Carrie Hoeckelberg, of Kalamazoo, MI. Her Grandparents: Jerry Akins and Carol Akins both of St. Joseph, Vernice Weir of Hartford, and Bernhard and Marilyn Hoeckelberg of Hartford. Her Aunt Lynn and cousin Matthew Avara, and “Aunt” Joyce and “Uncle” Buzz Ochs all of St. Joseph. She also leaves many extended family members including Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Tiffany was an eighth-grade student at Upton Middle School in St. Joseph. She was enjoying learning how to sew and looked forward to working with her new sewing machine. She loved to travel and was always ready to listen to music, or going to see the newest movie. She loved playing soccer and participating in the Youth Group at church. She was looking forward to beginning confirmation and going on the mission trip this summer. She had many animals and always loved talking her mother into bringing another one home. She leaves a close group of school friends: Katie Schlienz, Katie Brockway, Erica Plummer, Robin Kurth, and Noreen Walls. Sharing in our grief are the entire staff of St. Joseph Public Schools, and our Church family of Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ. Assisting the family with arrangements is Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Visitation for Tiffany will be held on Thursday, January 11 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Her funeral will be held on Friday, January 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ, 3001 Veronica Dr., St. Joseph, Michigan. Her burial will follow in Spring Run Cemetery, St. Joseph. We ask all family and friends to join us in a time of celebrating Tiffany’s life with a gathering after the funeral at the church, where we can share memories and stories. Memorial contributions will graciously be accepted for educational expenses for her brother, Alex Weir, in care of Lynn Avara.
