June's Obituary
June Louise Caldwell, 84, of Stevensville, MI, went to be with her Lord on November 30, 2006, at her home. Arrangements have been entrusted with Kerley & Starks-Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph, MI. June was born in Benton Harbor on August 9, 1922, to Horace and Mina (Glaser) Tauner. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1940, and attended Western Michigan University. She graduated from Borgess Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse and was employed as a surgical nurse at the local hospital. June subsequently became an instructor in the school of nursing at Lake Michigan College, from which she retired after 16 years. She was devoted to her profession and served on the Board of Trustees of Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI, for 12 years. Following her retirement, she was the first Coordinator-Director of Nurses for Hospice at Home, Inc., in Berrien County, and volunteered for several years. June was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, and served on numerous committees within her church and area wide. She was a representative to the annual conference of the Methodist Church fro three years. June is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Jim; her son, Jay (Mary) Caldwell of Grand Rapids, MI; her daughter-in-law, Gina (Bill) Keough of Birmingham, MI; and her four grandchildren, Lindsey, Chase, Jon and Breanne. She was preceded in death by her parents-Horace and Mina, her son-James T. Caldwell, and her sister-Jeanne Nagle. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, December 4, 1:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Wade Panse officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 3, from 3:00-5:00 p.m., at the Kerley & Starks-Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice at Home or to the First United Methodist Church, St. Joseph, MI.
