Doris Mead

Doris (McDermott) Mead of Mount Dora, Florida peacefully passed away at 7:25 P.M., October 19th, 2006 at the age of 88, surrounded by her children at her Daughter Pamela’s home. A Graveside Service will be held at 4:30 P.M., Friday, November 10, 2006, at Calvary Cemetery, Benton Harbor, where she will rest between her parents and be surrounded by family members. Fr. William Jacobs, Jr. will officiate. She will be sadly missed by all, especially her Life-Long friend, Liz Boyd of Benton Harbor, Michigan. After Graduating from Benton Harbor High School in 1937, she met and married Jay Mead. She was an active bowler in several Leagues and traveled often to Las Vegas for Tournaments. Doris semi- retired from Berrien Hills Country Club of Benton Harbor, Michigan, and then in 1997, at the age of 78, retired as Waitress, from Captain Applebee’s of Mount Dora, Florida. She was a member of the Moose Club #1389 and Eagles #4335 of Eustis, Florida. She is survived by her 5 children – Richard (Debbie) of Carmel, Indiana; Pamela, Nancy, Patrick, and Victoria (Craig), all of Florida; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters – Phyllis, Patricia, and Sharon all of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers – Floyd and Louis, Jr. “Sonny”.
