Irene Jakubowski

Irene Jakubowski, 88, of St. Joseph, formerly of the Beechwood Area in Hagar Township, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2006 at Whitcomb Towers where she resided. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Jakubowski was born November 27, 1917 in Chicago to Kazimer & Amiela (Rzucidlo) Pawlowski. On May 29, 1943, she married Alexander Jakubowski in Chicago. They moved to Michigan and settled in the Beechwood Area of Hagar Township. Irene operated Glass House Antiques for thirty years until her retirement in 1978. She enjoyed spending as much time as possible on the golf course, and had seven holes-in-one over her career. Living on Lake Michigan, she also enjoyed walking along the beach, especially with her husband Alex. Irene was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph. Mrs. Jakubowski is survived by two sons-Thomas Jakubowski of Lake Forest, IL, Anthony (Brigitte) Jakubowski of St. Joseph; her granddaughter Stephanie Jakubowski of St. Joseph; and her long time special friend Edward Ketcham of St. Joseph. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alex in April of 1981, her brother Stephen Pawlowski in 1990, and her niece Susan Pawlowski in 1973.
