Gladys C. Lange

Gladys (Hanson) Lange, 101, of Sodus, passed away Monday, June 12, 2006 at Redwood Manor in Berrien Springs. A service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 16, 2006 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Sodus with Rev. George Fleming officiating. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Gladys was born on August 12, 1904 in Lees Summit, Missouri, but moved to Sodus as a child. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1922, from County Normal School in 1923, and from Western Michigan University in 1955. During WWII she worked at Industrial Rubber, but will be remembered as an elementary school teacher at Chadwick and Eau Claire Schools. Gladys was a long time member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, the Bay View Club, and the Sodus Mother’s Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Lange in November 1967, her sister Georgia Biastock, her brother Thomas Hanson, and her son Charles Lange. She is survived by her son Thomas (Sally Hand) Lange of Sodus, two daughters-Clara (Ed) Menchinger of Sarasota, FL, Joan (Charles) Ross of Appleton, WI, her daughter-in-law Wilma Farmer-Lange of Quincy, MI; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren; and many good friends made both locally and in the winters spent in Florida.
