Eleanor's Obituary
Eleanor Burnoski, 87, formerly of Benton Harbor and Stevensville, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Shepherd of the Hill Nursing Home in Kendallville, Indiana. A Service Celebrating Life Eternal will be held at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., with Rev. Gerald Schroer officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Allen County Council on Aging or Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, both of Fort Wayne. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Burnoski was born March 18, 1919 in Dowagiac to Gustav & Rose (Rach) Polfus. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1937. On December 18, 1941, she married Ernest Burnoski in Benton Harbor. Eleanor was a former member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor & St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevensville. She & Ernest moved to Fort Wayne to be near their daughter and joined Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. Eleanor enjoyed flower gardening and especially loved spending time with her great grandchildren. Eleanor is survived by her daughter Kathy (Phillip) Bornemann of Fort Wayne, IN; her son Michael (Faye) Burnoski of Louisville, KY; four grandchildren Louis & Cena Burnoski, Stephanie (Darren) Hess, Joshua Bornemann; three great grandchildren Jacob, Jonathan, and Samantha Hess; her brother Harold “Red” (Jean) Polfus of St. Joseph; her sister Evelyn LaVanway of Stevensville; and five sisters-in-law-Virginia & Arlene Polfus, both of Texas, Marjorie & Edna Polfus, both of St. Joseph, and Lorraine Polfus of Benton Harbor. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest on July 23, 1999, and by five brothers-William, Bert, Arnold, Robert & Leonard Polfus.
