Lawrence “Larry” Gleaton , 61, of St. Joseph, a loving son, husband, father, and Grandpa “Boppa”, died Tuesday, February 7, 2006, at Lakeland Hospital – St. Joseph.
Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00P.M., with prayers at 6:30P.M., Friday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00A.M., Saturday, at St. John Catholic Church, 600 Columbus, Benton Harbor, MI, with Father William Jacobs, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Resurrection cemetery in St. Paul, MN. Memorials may be made for International Myeloma Foundation, 12650 Riverside Dr., Suite 206 North Hollywood, CA 91607-3421. Larry was born in Aiken, SC, on August 14, 1944. He married Patricia Lebens on November 17, 1972. He retired from Whirlpool in December 2000, after working there for 33 years. After retiring he continued his enjoyment of education by substitute teaching throughout Berrien County. His true love was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Patricia of St. Joseph, MI; mother Mary Amon of St. Paul, MN; Sons – Christopher (Cindy) Gleaton of Kalamazoo, MI, Marcus (Kathryn) Gleaton of Three Rivers, MI; daughter, Victoria (Matthew) Cook of St. Joseph, MI; son, Ryan (Steffanie) Gleaton of Benton Harbor, MI; Seven grandchildren – Trenton, Samuel, Alexander, Patrick, Derek, Nicholas, and Micah; and sister – Kathleen Jackson of St. Paul, MN.
