Maria Wegner

Maria Wegner, 95, of St. Joseph went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 8, 2006 at her daughter’s home. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 13, 2006 at Oakridge Baptist Church, 766 Oakridge Drive, St. Joseph, with Pastor David Broome officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12, from 5-8 PM at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Maria was born in Poland on January 14, 1910 to Wilhelm & Martha (Fenske) Hohensee. On July 12, 1934 she married her husband, Gustav Wegner in Poland. They resided in Germany until 1956 when they moved to the US and settled in Pennsylvania. In 1960 they moved to St. Joseph. Maria was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed needlework, and knitting. She loved gardening and delighted in her many flowers. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Maria is survived by her three daughters; Ruth (Richard) Betker of Stevensville, Sidonia (David) Hamilton of Glendora, CA, Luise Brewer of Long Beach, CA.; grandchildren – Roland (Linnea) Betker, James (Nancy) Betker, Erich (Alicia) Hamilton, Karl (Kim) Hamilton, Paul Hamilton; great-grandchildren – Roxanne Betker, Keith Betker, Kurtis Betker and Kayla Betker. She was preceded by her parents, her husband, five brothers, and four sisters.
