Alma Maxwell

Alma Maxwell, 94, of Palm Coast, Florida, formerly of Benton Harbor, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at First Assembly of God, 3084 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Dan Miller officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Monday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Mrs. Maxwell was born April 23, 1911 in Germany to Gottfried & Bertha (Rosin) Marquardt. On September 27, 1941, she married James M. Maxwell in Benton Harbor. She was employed at Cooper Wells in St. Joseph before moving to New Jersey where she was employed by Magnus Organ Corporation in Linden, NJ. Alma & Jim retired back to Benton Harbor, before moving to Palm Coast, Florida in 1988. Alma was a member of First Assembly of God and attended Calvary Christian Center in Ormond Beach, FL. She had a servant’s heart-always doing for others, she loved people. Alma enjoyed cooking and baking, and served as the family historian-keeping track of all the important dates and events that occurred. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Mrs. Maxwell is survived by her daughter Shirley (Gary) Stichter of Palm Coast, FL; her grandson Todd Stichter of Palm Coast; her sister Ruth (Erick) Fischer of Benton Harbor; her brother William (Esther) Marquardt of St. Joseph; several nieces & nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband James on May 5, 1990, her sister Martha Hirsch, and two brothers Leonard & Albert Marquardt.
