Kathy's Obituary
Kathy Arthur, 71, of St. Joseph, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 13, 2006, at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Mary Jo VandeWalle officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may call 3:00-7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Berrien County Cancer Service. Kathy was born to Jonathan “Bud” and Betty (Allen) McConnell on December 12, 1934, in Leachville, Arkansas. She married Guy Arthur on June 25, 1955 in Benton Harbor. Kathy and her husband owned & operated Tri County Audio in St. Joseph from 1960 until October of 2004 when their son and daughter-in-law took over the business. Kathy also worked as a waitress at Chan’s Garden in downtown St. Joseph for 15 years. She loved St. Joseph. Her favorite place was Silver Beach and the South Pier. She spent many hours there entertaining her precious grandchildren whom she dearly loved. She was also a common sight in the downtown area where she walked and talked with everyone, collecting many friends along the way. In her spare time, she enjoyed making extravagant wedding cakes for many friends and family, and enjoyed line dancing. Kathy is survived by her husband, Guy; her son Michael (Kathleen) Arthur of St. Joseph; daughter Yvonne (Andy ) Dean of Hartford; grandchildren, Andrew Dean, Jamin, Skyler, and Zhane Arthur; her brother George (Martha) McConnell of Old Town, FL; and her sister Dorothy (Melvin) Kirby of Benton Harbor. Kathy had four special family care givers – Martha McConnell, Dorothy Kirby, Sue Hand, and Tiffany McConnell. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Bud & Betty McConnell, four brothers-Johnny, A.J., Stanley, and Floyd McConnell, and two sisters-Juanita Fields & Gladys McConnell. She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister & friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
