Rekha A. Seth, 58, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, April 09, 2005 at her home. A Memorial Service followed by Visitation celebrating her life will be held on Monday, April 11 at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. The Memorial Service will be from 5-6 P.M. with Bhajans from 5-5:30 P.M. , Speeches from 5:30-6 P.M. and the Visitation following from 6-8 P.M. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Mrs. Seth was born September 15, 1946 in Lahore, India (now a part of Pakistan) to Jagdish & Krishna (Malhotra) Anand. She pursued her undergraduate studies at Lady Irwin College in New Delhi and her postgraduate studies at the University of Baroda in India. Rekha received her second Masters in Foods and Nutrition from the University of Wisconsin. On January 15, 1975, she married Mahesh Seth in New Delhi, India. She worked as assistant director of Foods and Nutrition at Saint Mary Medical Center in Gary, Indiana. Thereafter she was employed as a nutritionist for the Berrien County Health Department, and most recently as a nutrition consultant with various nursing homes including Jordan?s Nursing Home. Rekha was a respected member of the ethnic Indian Community in Berrien County and was a founding member of SMIA (Southwest Michigan India Association). She had been active in the Lakeshore School District while her children were attending school. She coached a Championship Spelling Bee Team for Lakeshore Schools. Rekha thoroughly enjoyed writing, mostly short stories, and was an enthusiastic member of the local writer?s group, Writers? Bloc. Mrs. Seth is survived by her husband Mahesh; two sons-Rishi Seth of Troy, Michigan, Kabir Seth of Chicago; two brothers-Pramod (Kapila) Anand of Burr Ridge, Il, Praveen (Chanderkala) Anand of Indianapolis, IN; four brothers-in-law-Chand (Suneeta) Seth, Harish (Madhu) Seth, Krishen (Rita) Seth, Deepak (Payel) Seth, all of New Delhi, India; her father-in-law-Madan Lal Seth of New Delhi, India; her husband?s uncle-Sudesh (Mala) Vohra of Chicago; and ten nephews & nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her mother-in-law Mina Seth.
