Robert Eugene Hemenway

Robert’s life began on January 7, 1942 in Rochester, IN, the son of Charles and Retha Rosella (Sands) Hemenway. He was employed by Rudy Manufacturing (Sundstrand) and Berrybrook Farms. Robert’s real love was repairing and painting cars. He ran his own auto body shop for many years. Robert was very social and loved his family. He was just, fair and giving. Robert enjoyed studying, researching and talking about the Bible. He was a collector of unique items such as coffee mugs, hats and lighthouses. Robert loved Mackinaw Island, the Mackinaw Bridge and he visits there. His loving family includes his children Janine Hemenway of Paw Paw, Toni Benjamin of Niles, Mike Hemenway of Cass, Robert S. (Rachel) Hemenway of LaPorte, Ryan (Brenda) Hemenway of Dowagiac, and Kimberly (Michael) Thorne of Dowagiac, stepchildren Brittani (Jethro) Johnson of Dowagiac, and Zachery Hartline of Dowagiac, 16 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a sister Beverly (Al) Brookins of Sodus and his best friend and former spouse Suzanne Hartline of Dowagiac. Robert passed away at his home on Friday April 5, 2012. He is preceded in death by a brother Charles Hemenway. Robert’s memorial service will be held on Wednesday April 10th at 4 p.m. at the Dowagiac Kingdom Hall (M-62 West). Yazel & Clark Chapel and Cremation Services is serving the family.
