Genevieve L. Ruff, 87, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to the arms of her Lord on April 17, 2005 at Golden Place, St. Joseph
Her family will meet with family and friends on Wednesday, April 20 from 5 to 8 PM at Kerley- Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home 2650 Niles Road , St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday April 21 at the funeral home, with Pastor Doug Cuthbert officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens Memorials may be made to Sister Lakes Community Church, Napier Parkview Baptist Church or Hospice at Home. Genevieve?s life began on December 11, 1917 in Eau Claire, born to Spence and Elsie (Johnson) Cuthbert. She married Irving A. Ruff on January 28, 1939 who preceded her in death January 8, 1994. She worked beside him on their fruit farm in Eau Claire until they retired and moved to St. Joseph. She was a simple woman who loved God, cherished her family and showed tenderness with them as well as friends. Everything she did was a labor of selfless love for her family, friends and acquaintances from sharing a kind word, gentle smile, phone call, bouquet of flowers from her garden to baking her special apple pie. She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends, cooking, sewing, traveling and is now home with her Lord and Heavenly Family.
She was a member of Napier Parkview Baptist Church in Benton Harbor.
She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Mrs. James (Delores) Flippo of St. Joseph, Mrs. Bruce (Janice) Edelberg of Millburg, and son David (Cheryl) Ruff of Coloma; nine grandchildren- Tiffany Piner, Bruce Flippo, Todd Kelley, Bradley Flippo, Cindy Krueger, Nancee Piner, Tara Kelley, Brandy Ruff, Jeri Sue Edelberg; nine great-grandchildren Cody & Mackenna & Owen Kelley, Hailey Umphrey, Tara, Emily & Karlye Krueger, Joseph & Olivia Flippo ; two brothers George (Bonnie) Cuthbert of Dowagiac, Victor (Lenora) Cuthbert of Sodus; two sisters Lois Preston of Eau Claire, MI; Mrs. Albert (Loretta) Nowlen of Brandon FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband Irving, her parents, and a brother Leo Cuthbert.
