Ruth's Obituary
Ruth C. Hanley, 82, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2005 at Caretel Inns of Royalton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph with Msgr. Thomas Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may call from 5-8 P. M. Tuesday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph where Liturgical Prayers will be offered at 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association or Lake Michigan Catholic Schools Tuition Assistance Program. Mrs. Hanley was born September 22, 1922 in St. Joseph, the oldest of four children born to Albert & Anna (Nimtz) Kasischke. On January 20, 1945, she married Joseph A. Hanley in St. Joseph. She worked for a short time before marriage, but spent her adult life tending to her family. Ruth served as a den mother while her children were in scouting. She thoroughly enjoyed being with people. Ruth was active in the Marian Guild, Monday Musical, various bridge clubs, and volunteered in the hospital coffee shop for many years. She was an avid collector, and enjoyed bowling. Ruth was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she sang in the choir for many years. Mrs. Hanley is survived by one daughter-Carolyn (Stan) Strzyzykowski of Edwardsburg, MI; four sons-Bill (Kathy) Hanley, Mike (Claudia) Hanley, Tim (Lorraine) Hanley, Tom (Peggy) Hanley, all of St. Joseph; twelve grandchildren-Jeanne Williams, Alden (Sarallyn) Mackie, Brian, Caitlin, Kevin, Patrick, Matthew, Rebecca, Andrea, Eric, Jeffrey & Stephen Hanley; two great-grandchildren Makayla & Eden Williams; and one brother-Gerald (Barb) Kasischke of Benton Harbor, She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph on October 14, 1998, a sister Florence Schuler, and a brother Alan Kasischke.
