Joanne's Obituary

Joanne M. Kasischke, 75, of St. Joseph, went to meet her Lord & Savior, Saturday, November 20, 2004, at Caretel Inns of Royalton in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 715 Market St., St. Joseph with Rev. Jon Bendewald officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. Monday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice at Home. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Joanne was born August 15, 1929 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Paul & Mollye (Slavicek) Hasse. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1947. On October 7, 1951, she married Henry ?Hank? Kasischke in St. Joseph. Together they owned & operated The Downtown Printers in St. Joseph from 1976-1995. In more recent years, she worked part-time for Oscar?s Printing in St. Joseph. Joanne was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She had a very caring heart, she was always helping her family & friends. Joanne enjoyed walking, gardening, spending time with her brother & sister-in-law during the winter in Gulf Shores, Alabama; and was a devoted U of M fan. Joanne is survived by two daughters-Karen (Roland) Buzenius of Three Rivers; Laurie Schmidtke of St. Joseph; her granddaughter Sara Schmidtke of Pacific Palisades, California; her brother Jack (Frances) Hasse of Bear Lake, MI; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband-Hank Kasischke on May 2, 1995.
