Robert M. Boyd

Robert Marshall Boyd, 86, of Palm Springs, Florida, died October 8, 2004 in St. Joseph, Michigan. He is a former resident of Amboy, Illinois. He was born in Chicago, Ill., on October 27, 1917, the son of Robert M. and Hazel (Stults) Boyd. He was married to Dorothy Jean Morris in Chicago, on October 9, 1937. He worked as an accountant for the New York Central Railroad for 36 years prior to retiring in 1977. He enjoyed square dancing, traveling, playing cards, and being with his family. Mr. Boyd was a member of the Masonic Order and had a life membership with Illinois Central Lodge No. 178 of Amboy, Ill. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, 3 daughters ? Ona (William) Swanberg of Dowagiac, Mich., (M.) Darlene Hinkle of Amboy, Ill., and Sherry (Raymond) Schwenn of Dowagiac, Mich.; and a son ? Robert (June) Boyd, Jr. of Yorkville, Ill. He is preceded in death by his son-in-law James ?Mort? Hinkle and his mother-in-law Gertrude Tait, both of Amboy Ill. He is grandfather to 14 living grandchildren and preceded in death by 2 grandsons ? Daniel and Ronald Noble. He has 25 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 12 noon to 2pm on Saturday, October 16th in the Chapel at Prairie Repose Cemetery, Amboy, Ill. A memorial service for family and close friends will be held there at 2pm, officiated by Pastor Christine Stienstra. Memorial gifts can be made to the Pankhurst Memorial Library in Amboy, Ill.
