Karl Gerstenkorn, 90, of Stevensville, passed away on Thursday, April 03, 2003, at Golden Place Assisted Living Facility in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, April 7, 10:00AM, at St. Matthew?s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Corner of Colfax & Kline in Benton Harbor, with Rev. Martin Weigand officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery, Stevensville. Friends may call on Sunday, from 2:00 till 5:00PM, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew?s Church or Hospice At Home, P.O. Box 297, Stevensville, MI, 49127. Those wishing to leave a message of condolence or to sign the family guest book, may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Mr. Gerstenkorn was born on September 22, 1912, in Wolhynien, Russia, to Karl and Berta (Jede) Gerstenkorn. On May 26, 1936 he married Frieda Jenk, she survives him. He was a member of St. Matthew?s Lutheran Church, and also a member of the St. Joe Kickers Sport Club. Mr. Gerstenkorn was a tool & die maker, having retired in 1978 from Bendix Corporation. Survivers are his wife Frieda; a son, Erhard (Renate) Gerstenkorn of Stevensville; two daughters, Hildegard (Siegfried) Lehmann of Stevensville, and Ingrid (Peter) Wadel of Ludington; a brother, Helmut Gerstenkorn of Stevensville; a sister, Irene Broja of Wolfsburg, Germany; nine grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son Horst; a sister Brangele; and brothers Robert, Wilhelm, and Albert.
