Constance Kay Franz

Connie’s life began on October 19, 1942 in Dowagiac, the daughter of Lawrence and Annabelle (Steinman) Stoops. She is a 1961 graduate of Dowagiac Union High School. Connie was united in marriage to Lee Franz on April 27, 1963 in Dowagiac. She was the bookkeeper for Midway Engineering and the family farm for many years. Connie was a member of the Dowagiac Women of the Moose Lodge # 933. Her greatest role and joy in life was being a grandma. Connie never missed anything that her grandchildren were doing and she loved her family very deeply. Her family includes her loving husband Lee of Dowagiac, daughter Cathy (T. J.) Franz-Kraft of Dowagiac, grandchildren Rachel, Jonathan and Nicholas Lindemulder, brothers Rob and Tim Stoops of Niles, special cousin Diane Padgett of Laredo Ranch, CA, sister in laws Carolyn Baiers and Joyce (John) Scherer, all of Sister Lakes, and special friends Joe and Harriett Hassle. Connie passed away on Wednesday August 24, 2011 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Dan Stoops in 1977. Her family will gather with friends on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where her funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
