George Allen Cuthbert

George's Obituary

George Allen Cuthbert was born May 18, 1927, to Spence and Elsie (Johnson) Cuthbert at the farm homestead on Black Lake Road in Pipestone Township. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 23, 2010. After graduating from Eau Claire High School he joined the Navy and served with the Seabees in the Philippines during WWII. He married Bonnie Lou Bodtke on October 22, 1950 in Benton Harbor and together they enjoyed 59 years of wedded bliss. His greatest joy and love was his family and friends. George loved farming and retired from Clark Equipment in Benton Harbor. After his retirement he and Bonnie spent the winters in Florida. He was a member of Sister Lakes Community Church. He is survived by his wife Bonnie of Dowagiac, his four sons Randy (Debbie) Cuthbert of Cassopolis, Doug (Marilyn) Cuthbert of Dowagiac, Bob (Nadija) Cuthbert of Eau Claire, Brian Cuthbert of Eau Claire; two grandsons Ben (Rachel) Cuthbert, and Andrew Cuthbert; eight granddaughters Nicole (Adam) Trongo, Daisy (Ken) Skibbe, Katie Cuthbert, Jessica Cuthbert, Andrea ( Jerry) Bernard, Amy (Nick) Warkentien, Alysse Cuthbert and Ashley Cuthbert; three great grandsons Jonah Cuthbert, Elijah Warkentien, and Kyler Trongo; one great grand daughter, McKayla Trongo; his brother Victor Cuthbert of Sodus, sisters Lois Preston of Eau Claire and Loretta Nowlen of Brandon, FL and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded by a brother Leo Cuthbert and a sister Genevieve Ruff. His family will gather with friends on Monday April 26, 2010 from 5-8 pm at Yazel & Clark Chapel, Dowagiac. His funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1pm at Sister Lakes Community Church led by Pastor Doug Cuthbert. He will be laid to rest at Shanghi Cemetery, Pipestone Township.
