Dominick Frank Tanzillo

Dominick's life began on October 21, 1927 in Chicago, IL; the son of Giuseppe and Emili (Lenti) Tanzillo. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Joan Frances Hudson on July 2, 1949 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Chicago. He was the owner and operator of Skyway Dog House on the South side of Chicago. His hot dogs were voted Chicago's best for two years in a row. He was known for his kindness, he would feed people that were less fortunate. He had a love for animals and he would always make sure that they never went hungry. Dominick was a very loving and devoted husband, grandfather and great grandfather. He helped his son build racing cars from the bottom to the top with his daughter reading the way to fix it up for racing. His loving family includes his wife of sixty years Joan Tanzillo of Dowagiac, his daughter LCDR Jodi Tanzillo, OTR/L of Chinle, Arizona, son Scott Tanzillo of Dowagiac his grandchildren Michael, Natasha, Lauren, Morgan and Tiffany. His great grandchildren Ethan and Kyler, his siblings Rose Mary (Roy) Howard of Homer Glen, IL; Mabel Albamonte, Munster, IN; JoAnn (Jack) Weir of Munster, IN; Patricia (Robert) Fruhauf of Lancaster, PA; Mary (Dan) Ryan of Mokena, IL; Joseph (Diane) Tanzillo of Homer Glen, IL; Marjorie (Mickey) Marco of Mokena, IL; and countless loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Dominick went home to be with the Lord on January 13, 2010 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents Giuseppe and Emili, his siblings Mike, Theresa and Carmen Tanzillo. His family will gather with friends on Saturday from 4-7 pm at Yazel & Clark Chapel. His celebration of life services will be conducted on Sunday at 1pm at Harvest Assembly of God Church, 601 Fairview Drive in Dowagiac led by Pastor Ernie Riggs.
