Marilyn's Obituary
Marilyn’s life began on February 1, 1925 in Dowagiac, the daughter of Ray and Evelyn (Denny) Schryer. She was united in marriage to Floyd Thomas in September 1941 in Berrien Springs. Marilyn worked at Sears and Roebuck as a credit manager for several years. She was a long time volunteer at Lee Memorial Hospital, and was active in the Dowagiac chapter of the AARP. Marilyn was a member of DAR, the Dowagiac First United Methodist Church and the church’s Esther Circle. Her greatest joy was her family which includes her daughters Ronnie (Ron) Seem of Cassopolis, and Jackie (Dale) Schmidtendorf of Traverse City, grandchildren Bob (Laura) Seem of Cassopolis, Karie (Mike) Dussel of Cassopolis, John (Sherri) Seem of Portage, Marilyn ( Wayne) DiGiacomo of Naples, FL, Debbie (Bob) Monroe of South Bend and Dan (Jennifer) Schmidtendorf of Granger, 18 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, her sister Carol Ann (Joe) Miller of Decatur and several nieces and nephews. Marilyn passed away on Saturday May 2, 2009 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She is preceded in death by her husband Floyd Thomas and her sister Mickie Shaffer. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac, led by Reverend John Kasper of Dowagiac First United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Dowagiac First United Methodist Church. McLauchlin-Clark Funeral Home is serving the family.
