Thelma's Obituary
Thelma’s life began on July 29, 1926 in Decatur, MI, the daughter of Louis and Florence (Calahan) Barker. She was united in marriage to George B. Sanders on September 23, 1950 in Dowagiac. Thelma worked as a pet groomer. She loved her dogs “Man’s Best Friend”. Her family includes her children Myralu (Willard) Nielsen of Fresno, CA and Leah (John) Saltzman of Dowagiac, three grandchildren Trey Nielson, Mayari Nielson, and Nickolas Saltzman, brothers Dayton (Ann) Calahan of Pinckney, MI and David (Linda) Calahan of Dowagiac, MI. Thelma passed away on April 25th, 2009 at Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph. She is preceded in death by her husband. Private graveside services will be held on Friday at Mission Hills Cemetery, Niles. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Dowagiac Animal Hospital in care of Dr. Frank Butts.
