James D. Miller

James D. “Jim” Miller, 90, of St. Joseph, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018, at Caretel Inns of Lakeland. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018, at 11AM at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church, 28 W Ash St., Three Oaks, MI. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Monday, November 12, 2018, from 10AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church or Caring Circle. Those wishing to leave a condolence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Jim was born on July 2, 1928, to John & Mary (Welch) Miller in Hartford. He graduated from Three Oaks High School and worked for Clark Equipment as a Truck Driver before his retirement. On July 8, 1950, Jim married the love of his life, Iris Payne, at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church. He was a member of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. Jim loved to whistle while he worked and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Jim is survived by his daughter Patricia (John) Behnke of Stevensville; grandchildren, Stephen (Laura) Behnke of Benton Harbor, Susan (Aaron) Toothman of Stevensville and Sarah (Brian) Kalczynski of Farmington, MI; great-grandchildren, Patrick, Katy, Alex and Matthew; brother Gene “Ed” (Jackie) Miller of Sister Lakes; and numerous nieces & nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John & Mary Miller; wife Iris Miller, and siblings, Margaret Shearer, Catherine Gill, John Miller & Charles Miller. Jim’s family would like to thank the staff at Caretel Inns of Lakeland and Caring Circle-Hospice at Home for the loving care they showed Jim.
