William Moore

William “Bill” Moore, 81, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Hanson Hospice Center. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home and Cremation Services.   Private family services will be held. Public visitation with the Moore family will take place from 3:00 – 5:00 PM  Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd. St Joseph, MI with Pastor David Slater officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hanson Hospice Center or SWMI Humane Society. Those wishing to share a memory of Bill online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.   William Alfred Moore was born on January 6, 1935 to Ronald & Opal (Jackson) Moore in Benton Harbor, MI.   Bill graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1953. He was married to Nancy Lee Kalin on July 15, 1961 at Zion Evangelical UCC in St. Joseph, MI. Bill was a City of St. Joseph fireman for twenty-eight years retiring in 1986 as fire chief. After retiring from the fire department he worked at Whirlpool in the Coolline Division from 1987 till 1997. Throughout his career he also worked part time for Bob Davis Plumbing. Bill enjoyed yard work and gardening. He especially enjoyed traveling and spending time up north at their cottage. Bill loved his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.    Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy; daughter Shelia (John) Ott of St. Joseph, MI, daughter Susan Moore of Holland, MI, daughter Lisa (Mark) Treiber Auburn, MI, and a son Scott (Stacey) Moore of St. Joseph, MI; grandchildren, Sean Moore, Audrey Moore, Ella Ott, Aaron (Kelly) Treiber, Andrew Treiber and Sarah Treiber; a sister Judith (Ken) Vieregge of St. Joseph, MI and a brother Charles (MaryJo) Moore of Gladstone, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Opal Moore.
