Vernon Wright, 83, of St. Joseph, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019, at his home.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at 11 AM at Christian Reformed Church, 3275 Washington Ave., St. Joseph, with Rev. John DeVries officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Military rites provided by North Berrien Military Rites Team. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, from 5 PM until 7 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Vernon was born on January 26, 1936 to Joseph and Iula (Staton) Wright in Rossville, IL. He attended Benton Harbor High School. Vernon worked for Heath/Zenith Company for 34 years before retiring as a supervisor in 1991. He married his wife Veda (Akins) Wright on January 18, 1958 in Bridgman, Michigan. Vernon served his country in the United States Army honorably from 1954 through 1957. He was also a faithful member of the Christian Reformed Church of St. Joseph.
Along with his wife, Vernon is survived by his children; Dale (Brenda) Wright of St. Joseph and Patrick (Cristi) Wright of Stevensville; grandchildren Bradley, Katie, Cameron, Madelyn and Conner Wright; brother Wayne Wright and sister Mary Lou Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Elizabeth Anne Wright, and siblings Royce Krause, Leland Wright, Joe Staton Wright, Duane Wright.
