Miles Scott Kelleher of St. Joseph, a beloved son, brother and friend, lost his battle with depression on Saturday, April 27. It was a war that he had been struggling through for years.
From an early age, Miles loved to run with his father. They ran in several Blossomtime Run for the Buds and 5 K’s throughout Southwest Michigan (starting with Miles at 2 in a running stroller). Their most memorable run being through Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China. Miles continued running on the St. Joseph High School and University of Detroit Mercy track and cross country teams. He truly loved running with his father and friends.
Miles' gained his love of reading from his mom as they spent countless hours together, first with his mom reading to him, then teaching him how to read. Sunday's were reserved for ‘manly lunch’ sitting in front of the TV rooting for the Indianapolis Colts (and Steelers) with his father and siblings. This is where he discovered his love for Cheez-Its.
He took after his Papaw in wanting to become an engineer and would have graduated from University of Detroit Mercy May 11th with a Bachelor in Robotics Mechatronic Systems Engineering.
Miles was committed to friendship. Anyone who knew Miles can tell you how infectious his witty sense of humor and laugh was and how easily his smile, with all his pearly whites, was. He cared deeply for all of his friends and family and made them feel unique and special, which is the way he will be remembered.
Miles was born in Pittsburgh, PA and leaves behind his loving parents, David and Lisa Kelleher of St. Joseph, his brother Andrew Kelleher, and sisters Halley Kelleher and Samantha Hales. Miles is also survived by his grandmothers, Virginia Duvall of Amelia Island, FL and Patti Kelleher of Akron, OH as well as many cousins and aunts and uncles whom he loved dearly and he, they.
