Nancy Eggers

Nancy Jane Eggers, 86, of Stevensville, Michigan passed away on June 25, 2019 at Woodland Terrace of Bridgman. She battled with Alzheimer’s for many years. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph with Pastor Doug Cuthbert officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until time of service, at the funeral home. Nancy was born on January 23, 1933 in South Bend, IN to Earl and Maude (Irvine) Arnold. Nancy married Eugene Eggers on April 14, 1951 in Michigan City, IN and was with him for 59 years until his passing in 2010. She received her BA in Elementary Education from Andrews University in 1968. She taught for Lakeshore Public Schools and North Berrien Adult Education. Nancy was a member of the St. Joseph United Methodist Church in St. Joseph and later enjoyed the church services provided at Woodland Terrace. She was active at the St Joseph Senior Center. Nancy was also very involved in Eastern Star, where she held many offices including the Worthy Matron. She was a proud member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel. Nancy loved family gatherings, spending winters in Florida with Gene, reading, playing cards, traveling, fishing, crocheting, line dancing and especially socializing with friends. Nancy’s family wants Woodland Terrace to know that all of the great care, compassion and love was always noticed and very much appreciated in the 8 1/2 years that she lived there. Nancy is survived by, her daughters, Kathy (Dan) Ott of Stevensville, and Debbie (Thomas) Brown of Dowagiac; grandchildren, Eric Ott, Sarah (John) Loftis, Jeff Ott,Thomas (Cari) Brown and Melissa ( Norman) Singh; and 8 great grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Eggers; son, Edward Eggers, along with her parents and sister, Shirley Parker.
