Today marks the first day of many days that Sue will be joining her mother on a heavenly shopping spree though the streets of paradise. Stopping at big box stores, mom and pop shops and the farmers market, and let’s not forget the St Laurent’s style candy stores where she indulged on their chocolate delights. Susan Marie “Sue” Rousse-LaFond passed away on Monday, March 23, 2020 at Spectrum Health Lakeland in St. Joseph MI. Arrangements are entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services. Per Sue’s request of cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Sue was born on May 3,1958 in Bay City MI. She was the 6th child and second daughter of Roger A. and Geraldine (Madden) Rousse. She attended Visitation Catholic School, Linsday Intermediate School, Handy High School in Bay City, MI and Coloma High School, Coloma, MI. She also earned an Associate Degree at Lake Michigan College in the field of electronics. Sue was an accomplished electronic technician at Zenith and Whirlpool for over 20 years. On May 23,1982 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Watervliet, MI, she married Keith LaFond. Sue subscribed to #1 Tenet of the International Shopping Code of Conduct which required her to examine all varieties of a product before any purchase. Hence, she visited many exquisite malls, shopping districts and stores. She was most at ease during her visits to Michigan Ave. in downtown Chicago. She enjoyed a vacation home in Lake City, MI., where her passion for gardening flourished. Sue enjoyed walks in the park, cooking, travel, reading books, visiting museums, arts and crafts, beaches and bonfires. In the winter, she enjoyed a good cup of specialty tea and a Hallmark Christmas movie. Her most special times were traveling with her family across the country to Hawaii, West Virginia, Disney World and up to Canada to enjoy the scenic sites on the Canadian Railroad Tour and the spectacular view of the Niagara Falls. She experienced a once in a lifetime trip to Paris along with her good friend Julie. Sue is survived by her husband, Keith LaFond; son, Jason LaFond; grandson, Jared LaFond; most adored great-granddaughters, Aurora & Nahla LaFond; siblings, Barb Miller, Tom Rousse, Roger H. (Allene) Rousse and Mike (Janet) Rousse; mother-in-law, Ardith Johnson; father-in-law, Mert Hildebrandt; sisters-in-law, Jane (Kenny) Neher and Suzanne LaFond; and, brothers-in-law, Daniel LaFond and Andrew (Rhonda) LaFond. Sue also enjoyed long and meaningful relationships with her close friends, which she considered her sisters, Tammy Cody Lange, Julie Hulsey and Pam Marks; and, her canine friend, Zena. Sue was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Barry Rousse, David Rousse and Martin Rousse; brother-in-law, Paul Miller; and, father-in-law, Albert LaFond.
